WHEN PIERCINGS NEED A FRAME
A STATEMENT IN CARTILAGE
A coin slot is a special form of body modification in which a narrow slot is created in the upper rim of the ear (helix). For this, a small piece of cartilage is removed, and the surrounding skin is precisely sutured so that a defined opening is formed.
Multiple piercings can later be worn stacked within this slot.
TECHNIQUE
Using sterile instruments, a precisely measured area of cartilage is removed from the ear helix. The skin is then sutured in such a way that a narrow channel is formed, which heals into a permanent slot. Once fully healed, multiple pieces of jewelry can be worn vertically within this slot – either symmetrically or offset.
The procedure is performed under hygienic conditions comparable to those of a surgical clinic.
The exact design of the coin slot depends on the customer’s wishes, but is also largely determined by individual anatomy. What is desired and what is possible will be discussed in detail during several preliminary consultations, on site, by phone, and via email.
RISKS
As with any surgical procedure, there is always a risk of bleeding and infection. To minimize these risks, we use locally applied agents to reduce bleeding during the procedure, special suturing techniques, and adhere to the highest possible hygiene standards.
