EARLOBE RECONSTRUCTION

Repairing earlobes & closing stretched lobes

HOW IT USED TO BE

AS IF NOTHING EVER HAPPENED

Many people come to us because their earlobes have been permanently altered by tunnels, stretched piercings, or torn earlobes. In many cases, these changes do not naturally revert on their own.

With a professional earlobe repair, also known as earlobe reconstruction, the earlobe can be restored to a natural, stable, and aesthetic shape. The goal is a harmonious appearance without visible limitations in everyday life.

REASONS FOR A RECONSTRUCTION:

  • HEAVY JEWELRY

Often, jewelry that is too heavy is worn, causing the earlobes to stretch downward over the years.

A visible split develops, in which the jewelry often hangs very low.

  • SELF-STRETCHED

Deliberately self-stretched or professionally stretched earlobes for plugs and tunnels.

  • BLOW-OUT

Incorrectly or too quickly stretched earlobes with blow-out formation.

  • RIPPED LOBES

Earlobe tears can occur due to heavy jewelry, stretching, or accidents.

  • BIG OR SMALL

Reduction or enlargement of the lobe size during the stretching process in order to save time or to adjust the stretching position.

WHAT IS AN EARLOBE RECONSTRUCTION

Earlobe repair is a way to permanently close torn or stretched ear piercings.

So-called earlobe reconstruction restores the earlobe to a natural and stable shape – especially after tunnels or heavy stretching.

It is commonly performed for:

stretched earlobes (tunnels) that no longer shrink back
torn or split earlobes
unstable or overly large earlobe piercings after piercings

The aim of the treatment is to reconstruct the earlobe so that it looks natural again and remains stable in the long term.

Earlobe reconstruction has several meanings. On the one hand, the earlobe is restored to its original form. In addition, adjustments in size and appearance are also possible.

Often, ear piercings have been stretched for tunnels and similar jewelry, and at some point, for professional or personal reasons, there is a wish to return them to their original shape. We also have many clients who have worn heavy jewelry for years or even decades, causing the earlobe to tear (resulting in a large split).

PROCESS & TECHNIQUE

Before every treatment, a personal consultation takes place. During this consultation, it is assessed which method is suitable for your earlobe.

The process usually includes:

Individual consultation and planning
Reconstruction of the earlobe under professional conditions
Aftercare instructions for optimal healing

The treatment is carried out gently, with the goal of achieving a as natural-looking result as possible.

HEALING & RESULT

After earlobe reconstruction, the healing phase begins. This is usually uncomplicated if the recommended aftercare instructions are followed.

Once healed, the reconstructed earlobe appears:

natural in shape and structure
stable and resilient
visually harmonious with the rest of the ear

In order for the skin to grow back together, the body modification artist must make an incision in the earlobe and remove small sections of skin. The open skin is then sutured.

The sutures are removed between day 12 and 14. New ear piercings can be done after 6–8 months.

Detailed information and aftercare instructions are provided in a final consultation. Please schedule a photo and follow-up appointment.

POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS

Sometimes, earlobe piercings are difficult to close again due to insufficient remaining skin, which can be a challenge.

Wound healing varies from person to person, so no guarantee can be given regarding the final result. Scars may be raised, indented, distorted, or there may be changes in skin color. If the result involves unsatisfactory complications, a free correction will be carried out.

With freshly sutured earlobes, heavy earrings should be avoided, as they may tear open again.
