Heavy earrings are often worn, and over the years, this causes the earlobes to stretch downward.
This creates a visible split where the jewelry often hangs very low.
AS IF NOTHING EVER HAPPENED
JUST LIKE BEFORE
Earlobe reconstruction carries multiple meanings. On the one hand, it aims to restore the earlobe to its original shape. Additionally, corrections in size and appearance are possible.
Often, earlobes have been stretched for tunnels and similar jewelry, and at some point – whether for professional or personal reasons – the desire arises to return them to their original form. We also have many clients who wore heavy jewelry for years or even decades, resulting in a torn (split) earlobe.

PROCEDURE & TECHNIQUE
A preliminary consultation is necessary to determine whether stitching the earlobe is feasible.
Please refer to the Appointments section for details.
In order for the skin to heal properly, the BodyMod artist must make an incision in the stretched hole and remove some tissue. The open skin is then stitched closed with thread.
The stitches are removed between day 12 and 14. New ear piercings can be done after 6–8 months.
Detailed information and aftercare instructions are provided during a final consultation.
Please schedule a photo and follow-up appointment.

POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS
Sometimes, earlobes can be difficult to stitch back together. A lack of sufficient skin may present a challenge.
Wound healing varies from person to person, so the final result cannot be guaranteed. Scars may become raised, sunken, distorted, or show discoloration.
If the result involves unsatisfactory complications, a free correction will be provided.
After earlobe reconstruction, heavy earrings should be avoided as they can cause the area to tear again.
WHAT’S MINI AND WHAT’S MAXI?
We differentiate between two categories: Mini and Maxi Reconstruction.
All piercing holes or stretched lobes that can be punched out up to a maximum of 5 mm are considered Mini.
This means we punch out the hole and close it with 4–8 stitches.
In a Maxi Reconstruction, we remove parts of the earlobe using a scalpel and separate the lobe completely. Then, we reshape it using a folding technique and stitch it back together.
Depending on the complexity, 10–20 stitches are needed.
From a hole size of 6 mm and up, it is classified as a Maxi Reconstruction.
